Music Playlist Challenge: "Skyscraper" - Demi Lovato

This outfit was for "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato. Got to be honest, got nothing out of the song or music video. So what did I do to get over this stumpage? I decided to take the title more literally. Well, sort of. I got inspired by skyscrapers at sunsets, or skylines.

So I thought of it abstractly, I put black's and grays on the bottom half of myself for the skyscraper concept and oranges and blues for a sunset idea, and then Skyscrapers are (as far as I know) almost always for business so I work a business-y look with kind of an architecture feel in mind:

Although this was actually for a Christmas party, since I knew my New Years would be unremarkably casual attire, I pulled out the gold sequins earlier in the month. Daring Greatly

Most outfits I wear don't spark controversy. But for some reason this one did:  After reinventing my wardrobe and cleaning it up, I'm finding I am able to think up more creative combinations for outfits because I can see more. So, less is more is the moral of that story. But I saw some past outfits where people took summer "jumper" dresses, paired them with button-ups underneath, and gave them a fresh, almost Indie-look. So when I realized I could wear this dress another way, I instantly pulled it out and chose what I felt was the most interesting and suitable combination - my buffalo plaid top. I stepped out of my room and my roommate immediately took a look and, very unlike her, said, "Hey, just wanted to let you know, that top and dress don't match." Music Challenge Recap

Phew, it took almost a year to complete this task, but I completed my second music challenge !   For those who don't remember or don't know, my older sister I Get Dressed currently runs a fashion blog and inspired me to turn my old one (formerly eclectic rocking) from a database of pictures (which Pinterest now fulfilled that need in my life) to a daily documentation of what outfits I wore.  Once we got the hang of pictures and were starting to get bored with our outfits, we had a conversation about two years ago about how a lot of music inspires fashion . So we decided to push ourselves creatively by giving each other a set of songs that we had to create outfits for.
