Welcome to the Agency Life

Image
What do you get when your work attire is "business-casual ish and sometimes jeans depending on when clients are in the office" and you spot the CEO wearing a Band t-shirt, jeans, and a blazer at work earlier in the week? You get this: I positively love working the creative marketing agency lifestyle. A recent shift has happened in this industry and creativity in fashion is more appreciated - and not always the stuffy conservative business attire.  Also, it finally broke to be cool enough to wear more than one layer. So, happy day!  And also, kind of obsessed with these new moccasins I bought: If you're looking for inspiration for ideas to make your office style less boring, you can consult my Professional Artist Pinterest board . It may have had some contribution to this outfit. Jacket, Banana Republic Outlet Blouse, gift Jeans, Macy's, American Rag Moccasins, Last Chance Watch, Last Chance Glasses, Urban Outfitters

Signature Staples: Minnetonka Moccasins

Meet my current unexpected obsession: Minnetonka Mocassins I got a Nordstrom Last Chance for $18.00. This are the most insanely comfortable shoes I have ever purchased. My feet want to live in them, pretty much. And these shoes what my feet to live in them also. When I first bought them I thought, "Ok, cool, lounge shoes." But they have become so much more. I think they are the fashion update to my oxfords, people. Mocassins are back on the Hillary charts.  So, don't be surprised when you see a Monday Mix down the road highlighting these suckers, ok?

Signature Staples: White Silk Market Flats and How to Bargain

Image
Remember this Monday Mix ? Let me tell you why these white floral flats are special: I got them in Beijing at the Silk Markets.  The Silk Market in Beijing is a huge 5-level shopping mall where you bargain for what you want. That's right. As an American I had a little bit of a learning curve with this and probably got ripped off my first day on the prowl. As business marketing Study Abroad students, my class had a large discussion on the bus after one day of attempted bargaining how to hone our skills and get a good deal. Here are the tips we concluded on to get the most out of bargaining in China for clothes: (1) Decide what your willingness-to-pay is for an item before you begin bargaining. Then  don't give that price away !!!  Start with at least half as much as your willingness to pay . So for example, if you're willing to pay $15.00 bucks for a pair of shoes you see, you tell the dealer your first offer is $7.50. If the dealer goes silent and ign...

Not a lot of pictures were taken with the white flats, but they were worn many of times. They were my great go-tos for work. So here's my shout out to them:

Classy girls don't kiss in bars

Taking a go at mixing prints with this one. I was a huge fan of this outfit, and it was one of those ones that helped me turn on the charm in a single person setting. So, huzzah. Skirt, Buffalo Exchange Blouse, Buffalo Exchange Shoes, Last Chance

Signature Pieces: Red Toms

Image
You know the saying, "Walk a mile in their shoes?" As I moved again, organized my shoes, cleaned out my shoes, and organized my shoes again, I couldn't help but think about what incredible stories clothing can have with them. With the accessibility to online handcrafted and vintage clothes from Etsy to the retooled variety of 50s and 60s clothes from Thrift stores, I believe most bloggers have at least a few interesting tales about their clothing finds that don't get shared. So here's the story about these Red Toms in my closet: These are no ordinary Toms. They might look normal, and that's why I bought them. But you should know that what you're looking at are Chinese knock-offs. I bought them when I while on my Study Abroad in China. I bargained for them in Beijing's Silk Market. What a happy clam I was when I found them! They were so extremely comfortable and cheap. This was by the end of my study abroad and I was sick of basically ...

Here Comes the Sun

Graduation and moving has been good for my style. Working at a creative marketing agency has a laid-back dress code, so I pulled out some older pieces and applied one new accessory update - these Minnetonka moccasins (18 bucks at a consignment store, staying cheap)!  I decided to mix up the yellow colors to see how they would turn out. And voila. Not too shabby if I say so myself. Fear no color !
