Music Playlist Challenge: "Umbrella" - Rihanna

Image
Inspired from the line, "In the sunshine we'll shine together" so I wore yellow. And "Gonna let the rain pour", and I thought the skirt kind of looks like rain falling in the sky, so there you go! :) Pretty sure I didn't look anything like the music video.

Music Playlist Challenge: "Hey Soul Sister" - Train

Image
Happiness personified? I would concur with the song and the dress. :) I kind of like how the music video goes with all neutrals when I go with all colors, once again I did not get the music video director's vision on this one.

Music Playlist Challenge: "Never Saw Blue Like That" - Shawn Colvin

Image
Don't go digging deep for interpretation, I just played on the title because frankly I don't really like slow country at all so I couldn't listen to it. I'm sorry if you like it, it's just personal preference, nothing against you. However, I really really liked this outfit and got loads of compliments today, so something good did come out of it. :P

Music Playlist Challenge: "Tidal Wave" -Owl City

Image
Well, this Owl City song is quite a bit different than their usual. I went for their kind of quirky techno appeal, but the theme of the song was more sadness so I pulled out blues and grays. It reminded me a lot of water so I kind of went for that effect.

Winter Protest

Image
Ok, so me and my legs agreed that we are sick of wearing tights and boots and thick stuff and we both needed some breathing room. So I wore one layer (I threw a coat on over later) and floral. I also said no to tights because I grew sick of trying to coordinate them with outfits anyway, so I sucked it up, went outside anyway. What seemed like a nice day turned out bitter cold, so when I got back I threw on boots and felt a little bummed. But whatev's, here we are this dress is amazing! However I might iron and stretch it just a bit next time.

Music playlist Challenge: "Video Killed the Radio Star" - The Buggles

Image
Well, my inspiration was very straightforward this time around. I just pulled out my favorite parts of New Wave Eighties....and I indeed had a yellow shirt like the band. :P Had some fun with filters too - this is me getting all eighties on you, which does not happen much at all. Primarily because I am mixed emotions about that decade with fashion (as opposed to the 70s or the 20s haha). But it was fun trying it today, a lot of guys responded to this outfit. One guyfriend of mine didn't recognize me. Two said they totally loved the whole outfit. And those two plus two more guys said they really liked the tie. Yeah, I would be one stylish man if I was one is what we can conclude.

Music Playlist Challenge: "I'm Just a Girl" - No Doubt

Image
Well, this time the first thing that came to my mind was "Gwen Stefani style!", seeing as she is the lead singer of No Doubt. Well, I didn't go with her sporty side, sorry, I chose her other side which includes the signature animal print, the mixing of prints, and you guessed it- red lipstick. It was a good day, got complimented today on my fashion bravery with putting two prints together. I also got called "Cruella Devil" because of my recent use of animal prints and pleather, but oh well, that's besides the point.

Music Playlist Challenge: "I Dreamed a Dream" - Les Miserables

Image
My sister referenced, "I Dreamed a Dream" to Susan Boyle, but I decided to refer to the original source. Went for a modern take on a Les Miserables outfit, basically channeling Broadway French Civil War chic. :P Well, what better than knee high boots and a peasant top, eh? All the characters in this play aren't dressed all frilly like the Bourgeois so I kept it simple and vintage-y. "I Dreamed a Dream" is a romantic airy song so I chose a light color palette and wore my heart pendant with a skirt to channel the soft romantic-ness of this part of the play.

MUSE-ing

Image
Haha, well this was going to be Uprising but I felt different after taking the picture for the following reasons: 1. Muse is just not appropriate for Sunday, nor Sunday dress. 2. I could do better. But I definately like this outfit, just not quite Glam Rock material, sorry!

Music Playlist Challenge: "Consider Me Gone" by Reba

Image
To begin, I decided to choose "Consider Me Gone" by Reba first. I will admit that I cringed at this song when I saw it because I am not in any ounce a slow modern country kind of girl. I'm just barely learning how to tolerate and maybe like some country music. So here's what I got out of it: Allow me to explain the reasoning on how I selected clothes in accordance with the song: My old cowboy boots were certainly appropriate for this genre. I put a blue shirt on because the mood of the song is heart broken, sad, therefore blue being the appropriate color to express the mood.  Reba is a bit twangy and I felt that brown was a appropriate color to coordinate with the blue-ness of the song.  However, she does have a point in the song where she sounds a bit more optimistic where she throws in a hint of personality and determination to be happy regardless of a breakup with the line, "Consider me a smile in an old photograph someone who used to make you l...

Presenting....Music Playlist Challenge!

Dear Bloggers, Today I would like to give you a collaborative project with blogger/sister I Get Dressed. We don't live in the same state anymore because I went away for school so inspiring each other in the fashion realm has gotten a bit trickier. However, I told her about how sometimes I get a lot of inspiration from music and I will make a whole outfit depending on a song that I hear (most of my outfit titles are songs anyway...), so she got the idea of giving each other 12 songs, any songs, even ones that may not fit to our taste and get fashion inspiration from it. So I present to you what i would call....The music playlist challenge! Here are the songs which she assigned me: 1. Just a Girl- No Doubt 2. Hey Soul Sister- Train 3. Evacuate the Dancefloor- Cascada 4. Cowboy Casanova- Carrie Underwood 5. Umbrella- Rihanna 6. Never Saw Blue Like That- Shawn Colvin 7. Uprising- Muse 8. Lightning Crashes- Live 9. Tidal Wave- Owl City 10. Video Killed th...

First Day of Winter Semester

Hmmm...does this look familiar? I basically just added a sweater to my first day of Fall semester outfit haha.

Communication Breakdown

Image
Well bloggers, one definite resolution was to get back to my taste for rocker things. I have had a difficult time because a lot of rocker stuff lately has been grungy eighties and I want more of the rock-chic look. I felt I obtained it this day with the boots, bomber, black gloves and silver chain accessories- ok and the dress contributed :P Either way I was very proud of obtaining this look very well. Some friends gave me compliments but most seemed to be a bit shocked, one friend told me I should just dye my hair black while I'm at it haha.
